I did a great workshop last weekend at the GoggleWorks. It was taught by Mitch Lyons, whose work can be seen here and is a method of printmaking that uses clay and colored slips. I hope to continue to work on this, as it is a really cool, ever evolving process, but I thought I'd share my first attempts. What you are seeing is clay that has been colored with pigment that is transferred onto the "canvas" (actually reemay is the substrate). All of the photos you see are my work, that was created from one slab of clay. Each print represents the addition of colors, themes or ideas or the removal of layers.

The photos aren't the best and I'm hoping the color is true. I have not yet decided if I will cut out certain parts or frame small areas rather than the whole print, and honestly I don't even know which side is up on some of them. (I keep changing my mind). So let me know your thoughts! Tell me which ones you like or don't like or think are upside down or sideways.

Politics for the Looney Tunes Generation

First and foremost let me say, this is not a political blog. Nor will it change into one now that Pennsylvania actually matters in the election process.
But, without making any endorsements*, I did find slate.com's piece on Bugs Bunny vs. Daffy Duck surprisingly insightful. or at least amusing.


When the candidates start lobbying for that all important Kiki endorsement, I'll let you know my decision.

Mother Nature was listening

Yesterday the sun was shining and the last little bits of snow dirty brown cold stuff melted away from the shady spots. I got a chance to look around and found this:

found this: It is my hydrangea, maybe this will be the year it blooms!

While not technically a spring find, if you look at this the right way, it looks like a flower

This isn't springy at all, but I made it and I like it. and I just noticed how well it matches my tablecloth.

Lizards are springy right?

That was a t-shirt, now it is a market bag. Thanks for the idea Martha!

I can't wait until my magnolia blossoms!
