Kiki on the block

How sad, my computer crashed & the post I was working on disappeared. :(

I'm sure it was a brilliant dissertation on writers block (um, you may have noticed that I seem to have a bad case of it)

I know that I was mentioning what led to my case.

It started in the usual way, too busy to think, let alone write.

First there was Backyardigans, which I spent 3 1/2 weeks working on so that it could be live & on stage.

Then there was the Berks Jazz Fest, I spent a week helping out with that.

Now I'm on to the Souper Bowl for Opportunity House. (Monday May 5, 2008 at the Inn at Reading, 5:30 - 7:30) Souper Bowl is an "Empty Bowl" event, where local potters, students, dilettantes, churches, whoever donate hand made or hand painted bowls and restaurants donate soup. Each attendee chooses a bowl (which is then wrapped up) then gets to sample soup from different restaurants. (For video on last year's Souper Bowl, click HERE.)

I'm in charge of venue & logistics. We switched to a new venue this year, since we ran out space last year, which has made the logistics a little challenging. We are using multiple ball rooms, with that all open up to each other, but the basic layout is a large "L" with a little flag at the top that goes the opposite direction as the the bottom. And by the way, some of the rooms will be used for another event that morning, so we can get into them until after 2:00 pm. Yikes. I have also had the fun of creating several bowls this year. As you look at some of them, you can see my learning curve.

All that being said, I will try to post more often. Grilling season has begun--I've already made pizza, and fish tacos, and multiple "Beer Can Chickens." I'm very carefully watching my grape leaves, because I can't wait to make these again.
